The formation of nanoparticles of a semiconducting compound of lead sulfide in silicate and borosilicate glass matrices has been studied. The dependence of the size of PbS nanoparticles on the temperature-time conditions of heat treatment has been determined. The bleaching effect arising in these nanostructured glass materials has been established. The developed glasses can be used as solid-state passive switches in lasers emitting in the near-IR region of the spectrum. Tab. 1, ill. 3, bibliography: 6 titles.
