Heading: Science for glass production

The state of development in the field of nanotechnology is briefly reviewed. It is noted that a fairly significant number of known glass materials contain nanostructures and, in essence, are nanomaterials (nanocomposites). A classification of nanostructures observed in glasses is presented. The structure at the nanoscale of some known glass materials is described, for which their properties due to the presence of the nanophase are given. Some glass-based nanocomposites obtained today are identified, and some problems of the directed synthesis of nanocomposites with a glassy matrix are highlighted. Tab. 2, ill. 5, bibliography: 35 titles.
