The main directions of activity of NIIStekla are shown. Examples of the development of applied research and their introduction into production are given.

Various phenomena and processes of glass technology are considered taking into account surface and volumetric factors. A kinetic analysis of the interaction of glasses of the K ₂ O - PbO - SiO ₂ system with a reducing flame and the molding process under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions has been carried out. Using the method of physical modeling of molten glass hydrodynamics, some regularities of the flow of molten glass in a high-performance container glass furnace have been studied. Il. 4, bibliography: 4 titles.

The process of chemical corrosion of glass using a methylene blue indicator has been investigated. Kinetic and concentration dependences were obtained for the adsorption of a dye by a silicic acid gel, including on the inner surface of bottles. The role of impurities and small additives in the production of high-quality glass products is shown. Some of the possible interactions in the oxidative and reduction modes of cooking are presented. Methods of applying decorative coatings to glassware are considered. The examples of decorating bottles show the possibilities of working with customers.

The results of studies of emissions of pollutants during the melting of container glasses using different types of fuel are presented. It is shown that a decrease in emissions occurs when natural gas is used as a fuel. Tab. 5, bibliography: 3 titles.

The results of studies of emissions into the atmosphere and air pollution of the working area by lead compounds in the production of glassware and crystal are presented.
