The analysis of the literature on modifying the surface of sheet glass to give it heat-shielding, conductive, hydrophobic, X-ray shielding, decorative and other properties is carried out. Various industrial and scientific associations engaged in the production and development of modifying coatings are represented. The classification of film coatings is given and their main methods of obtaining are considered. The influence of various factors on film coatings is analyzed. Il. 3, bibliography: 36 titles.

It is shown that the structure and properties of oxide sol-gel films depend on the total mass content of film-forming oxides in the solution and are caused by different degrees of non-equilibrium of physicochemical processes. The existence of fairly clear relationships between the viscosity of solutions, the features of the microstructure, and some properties of the films has been established. The effect of air cooling of the front surface of wall ceramics melted by a plasma torch on the physical, mechanical and decorative properties of the glaze layer has been studied. The process of deposition of coatings based on g-Al ₂ O ₃ on highly porous ceramic materials with a cellular structure is considered. The application was carried out by impregnating the samples with boehmite gels obtained by hydrothermal treatment of freshly precipitated aluminum hydroxide. The possibility of increasing the specific surface area of ??highly porous ceramic materials with a cellular structure from 0.1 to 4-9 m ² / g is shown. Tab. 2, ill. 3, bibliography: 8 titles.

Aventurine effect was found in chromium and alkali-containing aluminoborosilicate glass and enamel based on it. The influence of the acidity of glass, as well as the ratio of alkaline oxides on obtaining the aventurine effect and the size of crystals in glass and enamel, has been investigated. The force effect on the slip layer during the formation of an enamel coating on a product performing a complex movement is investigated. The forces acting on the elementary volume of the enamel slip have been calculated. The main types of forces that contribute to the discharge of excess slip and the formation of a uniform coating have been identified.
