    Science for glass production

  • Using of soda obtained by hydrochemical method from nepheline raw materials in glass melting

    • Pages: -
The tests of the corrosiveness of soda from nepheline raw materials in relation to the refractory masonry of glass-making furnaces have been carried out. The basic principles of organizing the process of melting industrial glasses from charges containing such soda are considered. It was found that the use of soda does not cause any complications in glass melting and is not associated with the risk of reducing the kiln campaign. Tab. 1, ill. 1, bibliography: 6 titles.
  • Absorption spectra of alkali-borate glass dyed with cobalt

    • Pages: -
The optical absorption spectra of alkaline-borate glasses colored with cobalt in the visible and near-IR regions (0.4 - 2.7 ?m) have been investigated. An attempt was made to establish the relationship between changes in the structure of the boron-oxygen network and the transition of cobalt ions from octahedral oxygen coordination to tetrahedral coordination. Tab. 3, ill. 2, bibliography: 6 titles.
  • Rating of vibrations in the units for optic fiber drawing

    • Pages: -
An assessment of the influence of vibrations of the drawing units on the deviation of the drawn fiber diameter is given. An elastic thread was taken as a design model. A kinematic disturbance is introduced into the boundary conditions, caused by vibrations of the exhaust mechanism. Il. 1, bibliography: 3 titles.

  • Porous permeable alumina ceramics

    • Pages: -
The effect of additives (within 15 - 30%) of dispersed alumina with different contents (up to 2.3%) TiO 2 and MgO on the properties of a porous permeable material based on electrofused corundum of different dispersion has been studied. The obtained porous ceramics with open porosity up to 40% and bending strength up to 25 MPa, characterized by high filtration efficiency and chemical resistance. Tab. 1, ill. 1, bibliography: 3 titles.
  • Special features of phase separation of Zr-containing glazed glass

    Autors: I. A. Levitskii
    • Pages: -
The results of studying the phase separation of zirconium-containing aluminoborosilicate glaze glasses at the stages of cooking and heat treatment are presented. The influence of the composition of glasses on the features of the formation of their phase composition and structure is considered. The possibility of obtaining low-melting glaze coatings with desired properties is shown. Il. 5, bibliography: 8 titles.
  • Problems of application of unshaped refractories

    • Pages: -
The problems that restrain the widespread use of unshaped refractories are considered - the need for close coordination of the actions of specialists in the field of binding materials and specialists in the field of ceramics and refractories, organizational problems, especially the establishment of engineering support for manufactured products. The necessity of testing the deformation properties of refractory materials at the manufacturer's office under the conditions that will be during their operation is noted. Taking into account the pieceiness and low-volume of the manufactured products, it is advisable to engage in their production for small and medium-sized businesses with an orientation to the regional market. Il. 6, bibliography: 12 titles.

  • Thin film structure of binary and complex lead-silicate glass on metals

    • Pages: -
The topography and composition of surface layers of thin films of lead-silicate glasses obtained by thermal diffusion homogenization on metal substrates are investigated. The composition of the film-substrate transition layer is analyzed. Tab. 4, ill. 3, bibliography: 10 titles.

  • Modeling of diamond holing of brittle solid nonmetal materials

    Autors: A. V. Balykov
    • Pages: -
A model of diamond drilling of holes in brittle solid nonmetallic materials is proposed, based on the description of the process of microcutting with a single grain and energy processes occurring during drilling. Modeling the work of a single grain was carried out taking into account the deformation of the bond. The simulation results are used in the form of specialized software for calculating cutting conditions and creating new progressive technologies for obtaining diamond tools operating under the most stressful conditions. Il. 5, bibliography: 5 titles.

  • Crystallization of alloys of spent pyroxene skarns of Koitashskoe ore field

    • Pages: -
The influence of the rate of cooling of the melt of pyroxene waste from the Koitash ore field on the character of their crystallization is shown. It has been established that melts of pyroxene skarns have a sufficiently high crystallization capacity and, with the additional introduction of crystallization stimulants, can be used to obtain glass-crystalline materials with a fine-dispersed structure. Il. 1, bibliography: 5 titles.
